The best april fool’s prank I have ever pulled:

By , 1 April, 2011, 1 Comment

Last year I pulled the greatest prank of my life. My daughters birthday is in April and so I decided after seeing something similar on Prudent Baby that I would send IRS tax audit letters as my daughters birthday invitations.

My friends and family were livid to be exact. I definitely made some heads roll.

These are not just your typical letters oh no. I used the real logo and tax envelopes. They looked legit. The best person’s reaction had to be hearing my husband’s voice when he was opening the letter I sent to his business. It was priceless.

My boss actually helped me put them together and make them look as official as possible, he’s a lawyer.

My daughters birthday invitation was put on the last page but I think only 2 people saw it. Most people just started freaking out then when they got to the signature and saw my name they called me immediately. It was awesome! I can’t recall the number of times I heard ” I hate you!” but it was a lot!  They also said  they were going to kill me.  Ha! I’m still alive!

Here is the letter, I don’t have my original but I found this one on Prudent Baby which is where I originally got the template before I tweaked it.

You can download your own copy to customize HERE.

I picked up some of these envelopes at Staples. You can get them at any office supply store.

I sent them out two days before April Fool’s and all of them arrived on April Fool’s day! It was a SUCCESS!

LUPUS and Other Drugs

By , 17 March, 2011, 2 Comments

For those of you who don’t know me I am cursed with having multiple autoimmune disorders. For those curious people out there I have Lupus, mild RAAutoimmune HepatitisAntiphosolipid Syndrome, and Hashimotos Thyroiditis. These diseases are a constant struggle for me. Did I mention I am 30 years old. I am currently on a slew of meds that work most of the time but I can still have flare ups and that causes me to have to take Steroids for extended periods of time. ( I HATE Steroids with a passion.)

Yesterday a new drug was approved by the FDA to treat Lupus.

{Benlysta was the first new drug to treat lupus after 56 years. Industry analysts expect the drug to be a blockbuster, with annual sales exceeding $2.2 billion by 2014. GlaxoSmithKline will be the producer and marketer of the drug. It will sell for about US$35,000 per year per patient.}

Is this very frustrating to anyone else?

A new drug that could treat my Lupus and basically make me well with only one problem it costs more than I am worth in one year of working. I highly doubt my insurance is going to cover a drug that costs this much per person per year.

Thank you wonderful pharmaceutical company. Does this drug really cost this much to produce I mean come on. Isn’t it bad enough that I am forced to work to get insurance since I am un-insurable when I am not on a company plan! I hate everything about how our healthcare plan currently works. I would love to be a stay at home mom and spend time with my daughter but that isn’t an option for me and now a new drug to cure my Lupus isn’t either.

Freaking Fantastic!

Snowpocalypse 2011- 3 days of fun!

By , 4 February, 2011, No Comment

We had 3 great snow days from Snowpocalypse 2011. We received 12 inches of snow at our house. Also a five foot drift on our porch!  Thank you to OC for keeping me safe and letting me stay home with my family. I loved having my sister and her family so close. The first day we were snowed in they came over to hang out with us. We played Just dance on the Wii. This is a super fun game. It’s funny seeing everyone dance. They also joined us for dinner for Home made chicken Pot Pie. It turned out good I think. I baked a lot on this break and enjoyed cooking. Graysen and I played, painted and yes she helped me cook and make cupcakes. We played on Stringer Mountain right outside our door though some would argue that it looks more like a shark that is out to get us. Graysen, Landon and I enjoyed sledding on it. I made crafts, cleaned and enjoyed being home with my family. Thank you god for the beautiful snow. Did I mention that we are supposed to get more next week. Here are some photos from the fun week we have had.

We are all stocked up on groceries. We bought sleds and we are ready for the snow! Bring it on!!!

The National Weather Service increased its snowfall predictions for late tonight and Tuesday, and the forecast now calls for up to a foot of snow in the northern Oklahoma City area and at least eight inches elsewhere in the metro. Northern and northeastern Oklahoma also could also get about a foot of snow. Blizzard conditions are likely early Tuesday in the Oklahoma City area with drifts of three to five feet possible due to strong north winds and a cold blast of air, forecasters said. The overnight low tonight in the metro is expected to be about 14 degrees with winds of up to 25 mph, and Tuesday’s high temperature is expected to be about 18 degrees with similar winds.

Wow, that was incredibly scary but good. I did very well and I feel the judges really now have a sense of who I am and why I am doing this. My makeup is done and my hair is big. I’m perfectly ready for the pageant. I am excited to see what God’s going to do with me. Wish me luck!!
Much Love,

Mrs. Oklahoma City, What!!!!!?? How did this happen?

By , 8 November, 2010, 3 Comments

So I have had a LOT of changes in the past few weeks. Some how in the midst of a few weeks I decided to be in a Beauty Pageant. ( I know you are thinking surely she must be crazy!) Right?? An acquaintance of mine Heather Rouba who was Mrs. Oklahoma 2009, This is her below:

Gorgeous right! Well she convinced me that I needed to be in this years Mrs. Oklahoma Pageant. ( I listened.) So now what????? Well I submitted my paperwork and the nice people at the pageant ( Thanks Heather! ) gave me a scholarship so I did not have to pay any fees to get in. After I submitted my paperwork with my photo they judged me and now somehow I am officially Mrs. Oklahoma City. Here is my Sponsor Letter:

So the next step is the Mrs. Oklahoma Pageant in January. I am a little terrified but I am looking forward to getting out of my shell and having a little fun. How many times in your life do you get to be in a state pageant! If I happen to win Mrs. Oklahoma the next step is the Nationally televised Mrs. America pageant. ( That is a little intimidating!)

I have started my hard core training this last week to get my rear in shape before this thing. My weekly regimen is going to be Boot Camp MWF in the mornings and Abs class T/TH mornings. With mild exercise on the weekends. I am changing my eating habits and drinking habits. No more diet coke sadly. That will be the hardest part. Okay not really so far Boot Camp is the hardest part. I am working out at Anytime Fitness in Mustang. My trainer Don is awesome and I have a feeling he is really going to push me. He knows what I am working towards, so every day I get a comment like remember you want a rocking body for that swimsuit. Yes, Please don’t remind me that I have to wear a swimsuit in front of a million people. This is something that is not on your list of fun after you have a kid. :)

The Pageant is January the 22nd. I will try to detail my account of what I am doing to prepare for this adventure. I have found several sponsors already but am always looking for more. :) I have an amazing gown coming all the way from Rome, Italy! I am super pumped about it. It’s going to be so beautiful.

Well until tomorrow, Sleep well and drink plenty of water. ( This is a reminder for myself as well!)

Graysen’s First Hospital Stay

By , 22 September, 2010, 1 Comment

I thought I would explain how this mess happened. Friday Graysen had a bit of a runny nose, by Saturday it turned into coughing by Sunday night she was up all night! I mean up all night! Monday morning she was not breathing well so we were going to head to Amarillo to get her checked. while packing she got blue, pale and lethargic so we called 911 and met the ambulance. Monday Graysen was admitted to the hospital. She got poked and prodded. They stuck her for an IV several times and again for blood draws. I will include a picture of the battle wounds. She had a chest X-ray and all of this pointed to viral pneumonia. her oxygen levels are not staying up well. It is now Wednesday night and she is back on oxygen. Guess we will be here for a while. Here are some photos of the adventure! Please PRAY for Miss G!
